A safe haven for vulnerable young children

A local initiative providing a safe haven and a strong start in early development for vulnerable young children in West Lombok. It offers high-quality, free, and accessible preschool care, stimulating early education and helping to break the cycle of poverty.

Brushing teeth and washing hands are fixed rituals in our daily program. Through these, we provide a valuable boost to the children's health and hygiene.

Every Thursday, the toddlers tend to the vegetable garden. This teaches them about sowing, harvesting, healthy eating, and taking responsibility.

A regular preschool in this region costs an average of €10 to €20 per month. For the impoverished families in Lembah Sari, who often have to survive on just €1.50 per person per day, this is unaffordable. Outside of this initiative, there are no other preschool facilities available in the Lembah Sari neighborhood. Existing regular preschools are located further away, which would burden families with additional travel time and transport costs. Thanks to the efforts of the neighborhood head, the government now also provides free school lunches for these children.
Without this preschool, these children would miss out on the solid foundation that their peers receive, leading to developmental gaps that are difficult to bridge later in life.
